Best move ever...He's the baddest man on the planet and I was saying that two years ago!

25 to 1. I would put down $100 on the Skins. That's if I was a betting man. LOL

it was 35-1, then 40-1. 25-1 is still ok I guess.

Vegas odds went from 40 to 1, to 25 to 1 after signing Hall and Haynesworth. Stinks b/c I was gonna take them but maybe not now.

Your right yellow41 it is a long time to wait for an effective pressance on the line

I've had this on mind all weekend, as I'm most of us have. The team has not had an effective plug in the miidle of the D line since Dave Butz retired, yes I do think that it has been that long. This not only adressess a need for this coming season but a haunting one of almost twenty years.

*tickled pink* Co-signs on 99% of what everyone has had to say. I'm pretty stoked over the recent developments and look forward to seeing how well the draft goes for our team. The ONLY salary that concerns me is mine lol. Whatever the case may be, I cannot wait to see him perform in the Burgundy and Gold! Off topic... I MISS YOU ALL!!! =)

@44a Diesel ...It's unfortunate that some of the Redskins employees were laid off .But take this into consideration if Dan Synder can't get that stadium filled and that merchandise sold MORE people than the few he laid off will be out of work. Haynesworth is an athlete injuries can happen to anybody at anytime.Do you really think so little of our F.O as to think they would shell out so much money that they would not do their homework and have his knee checked out.Not to mention he has to pass a physical before the deal actual goes through. ...View More

^^ ITA Di EVERYBODY has been crying, yelling and complaining about the O & D-line.AFter making DeAngelo Hall the Redskins 1st priority signing.Daniel Synder and Vinny Cerrato go out a sign THE BEST DEFENSIVE LINEMAN in the NFL. Now people are crying about the money it took to sign a PROVEN,HIGH QUALITY player. This is the real world.Albert Haynesworth was not gonna sign for $50 million dollars for 35 years. No matter how much he wanted to be a REDSKINS.He has a family to support. I guess people see NOW that Doc is back that THEY did PLAN their budget to sign the players they wanted.GOOD JOB Mr.Synder,Vinny, and Mr.Eric Schaffer for getting it done. ...View More

Great point LadyDi! You want the best you gotta pay! The Redskins only have 4 draft picks this year. They all could be a bust! Haynesworth is the real deal. Just listen to any of the guys on ESPN, they all say the same thing. That he is the best at his postion. What more do you want than getting the best player?

It's funny....everyone was complaining about a wanting a pass rush last year. And now we have one (or I should say a player that equals two players) and people are whining about it!
02/28/2009 11:02 AM
LadyDi*21*
Just a couple things I know for sure #1: As Lyte and others noted today's contract will not necessarily play out to the letter--or $$$ amount AND #2: ANYBODY can be sidelined by injury at any time. No need to count the physical therapy sessions before they are prescribed! All of it is a roll of the dice. How many people passed on Horton last year before we found him stuck to the bottom of Vinny's shoe? How do the other teams who passed on him feel about that now? In a nutshell: gotta wait and see and come hell or highwater: HAIL TO THE REDSKINS,BABY!!! ...View More

Like Lyte said.....His contract will be re worked in a few years anyways. They always are. AND my point was that Dion's ability and contract have nothing in common with Haynesworth. That's all.

I'm with you on that Yellow41! :) BTW Lady DI, the Deion Sanders reference was to his contract not the caliber of player he is. LOL

I like the pick up but that big money concerns me. I hope he is here for more than just a paycheck. If he is then we have an even better D than last year. The first time I see him make Romo eat turf I will most likely for get about the negatives of the deal.
02/27/2009 2:44 PM
Yellow41
Listen he is one of us now lets just hope for the best!! I wasnt all about it either but now we gotta support em and see what comes of it. We have screwed up doing this so many times in the past hopefully our luck changed when we went for Hall and now it will only be positive moves!!! lol who knows?

Only time will tell if this FA pickup of Haynesworth was the greatest FA signing ever or the greates bust. I do believe that he wants to proof the speculators wrong and will play well..Coach Blache is the perfect old school coach for him as well. I know Coach Blache is thinking Christmas stricked again with Haynesworth and Hall..Let's imagine for a minute..Haynesworth, Carter, Taylor, Fletcher, Hall, Rogers, Landry and Horton..Whooheee. Wow. wow. Wow. I know that the Giants, Eagles and the Cowgirls are saying oh Sh&&%%%%t right about now ...View More

i like the potential of it all but really i dont think hanseworth has 7 yrs left in his career! so why sign him so long? and really 13 mill a year! he better be on his game right out the shute! but i like the concept of his ability to collapse the pocket from the center and help create or get sacks himself
02/27/2009 2:14 PM
skinzFan..
His ability is there for all to see. The moneys involved and the decision to do this by the FO was the thing that hurt. I wish him all the best and hope he ends up sitting on Romo once or twice :) end of story.

UK_Skinfan, the way some of the reaction on this site has been towards him you would think the guy had two broken legs and hadnever played a down in his life. I totaly agree the salary is obscene and over the top. But I still say he is the best player at his position in the whole NFL. Yes we still have lots of holes, but one big hole has just filled for the forseeible future. If the Rummours about Dockery are true, then we are looking to fill another hole and allow us to use our meger draft picks on other needs. ...View More

Hey it doesnt matter who pulls a Skins Jersey on I will support them, I dont think booing a player helps so I wont be doing that either. Im just saying drum he cant do anything if hes not on the field suited up. Hes a Skin, thats it like it or not hes here Im behind him 100% but I dont like the fact hes costing the Franchise so much.
02/27/2009 1:04 PM

What is anyones worth when Injured? Springs was out for how long last season and still got his $$$$$ I guess this signing is your classic "fans not in agreement" signing. Some will never be convinced and some will never say he is a bust. To me the main thing is this. Albert Haynesworth is now a Redskin, and I will get behind him. I do not expect everyone to do that but if a majority boo him, what odds then of him saying "you know what just gimmee the money I aint playing". Yes we paid too much, but given that Bart Scott went for $8million a year It might not be as much over the odds as I fiorst thought ...View More

we do know that Albert hasnt played in all the Titans games in a season since 2002? Whats his worth when hes not suited up on a Game day??
02/27/2009 12:50 PM

think about it..... with Haynesworth u really get 2 guys! it takes two people to block him. and Landry has had to play so far back because we had no pass rush. Now we can get Landry the beast involved again in the game at his true position and let him do what he does best! GOOD MOVE!

EVERYBODY was complaining about the D-line well you got your wish. WE'VE signed the BEST DEFENSIVE LINEMAN in the NFL.WTH is the problem? the 7yrs/$100 million dollars part is misleading he's getting 40 mil guaranteed.Taking a stud D-Line in the draft with the 13th pick is just about the same thing.Only we KNOW Hayensworth can PALY with the big boys and a rookie out of college could FLOP and we'd still be here complaining about not taking Haynesworth when we had the chance. 2nd point Hall has proven what he brings to the table in this defense. He's young. He WANTS to be here. I have no problems with either signings. ...View More

How do we now plug all the other holes? one man doesnt make a team, especially if he gets injured, abd goes down in week one. Do you think Alberts into the Twinkies and hershey Bars yet? I'll rephrase that, how many do you think hes had already? 3 years 41million he could be 400lb by mid season. lol I dont know wheather to laugh or Cry! I do feel let down by the FO, no change there then. ...View More

02/27/2009 9:09 AM
Mully
Those contracts dont mean anything. He will not get a 100 million from the skins. He is guaranteed 41 million, thats all. He wil redo his contract in 3 years just like everyone else does or be released. He is a good player we need. Our D line just got 100% better. Now lets get Orakpo!!!!!
02/27/2009 9:02 AM
*21*Lyte..
Plus, this move probably guarantees that we will not draft a defensive lineman (my guess is that Orakpo, Raji, etc. would be gone before 13 anyway) and instead will go OL. I'm assuming that one of the top 4 will be available at 13 (Michael Oher or Andre Smith). Shoot, who knows.... maybe Vinnie will pick another WR or even Knoshown Moreno. Let's hope not.
02/27/2009 8:40 AM
Blitz56 ..
Ok, I'm actually excited about this. I'm not excited about the contract and it's affect on the salary cap, but think about it. Every big dollar contract we have signed players to in the past has been thought to "kill us" for future years, yet we still have fielded a competitive playoff caliber team. The biggest thing that we have lacked defensively over the past 3-5 years have been a pass rush. I'm pretty confident that by plugging this big guy in the middle of the D-line that LiteSkin and BrownSkin could each get a few sacks this year from the DE position. So imagine what a healthy Jason Taylor is going to be able to do. (fingers crossed) ...View More

Been trying to make the best of this signing. Sal Palontonio (sp?) on Mike and Mike said this now changes the NFC East landscape. We also resigned Hall, so the defense is looking good. Now need to address the OL
