He may not be the "franchise quarterback" everyone is clamoring for, but it's not like he's single-handedly losing games, either.

Great stats Riggins44, it emphasis the area that seperates the great from good, when we need a game winning drive how many of us seriously have faith in Campbell? It is his biggest deficency, sure he played well recently but we are still not winning. As warpath points out if our record was 8-4 would anyone complain about Campbell, probibly not because it would mean he had actualy taken us on some game winning drives. To those who say it is not his fault, it is the lines fault, remember last season we got of to a flyer were 6-2 and I was complaining about our OLine i was told by the vast majority "look at the yards Portis is running for, our line is doing great" Well winning hides an awful lot. But winning is what this league is all about not about playing well but winning. ...View More

Campbell continues to play well!!!! Gets better every time. So sure let's start a Colt Brennan who got picked apart by 3rd string in preseason......Makes sense to me!????????

nahhhh ive had enough of the roller coaster ride with campbell!!! i want to know what to expect for our qb! he would lose every time in a game of "THINK FAST"!!! GREAT GAME SUNDAY THO MINUS THE POOR DESICION ON THE OUT ROUTE THAT WAS PICKED OFF AT A CRITICLE MOMENT!...actually he played really well other than that play!!

Campbell is not the problem. He has a chance to be damn good quarterback if the team can get some stability around him.

I think, at the very least, it is time to be looking at a replacement for Jason. Jason did fairly well against the saints, but what about the other 11 games? Jason freaks out too much in the pocket and then he makes bad decisions. Let's see some Colt action!

If the record was 8-4 everybody would be singing his praises. I don't give much attention to QB's on other teams, especially when they run a different system than what we're running. If Vick was availble for trade back in October alot of people on here and out among the masses would have cried and booed hooed, until he would have started winning some games. We just weren't subpar this year. It took ten years to create this mess, and it might take another 2 to 3 to becomme decent again. Campbell didn't make the call to run Mason on the 6 yard line. Thomas and Davis had the hot hand and I'm sure a better play could have been called. That's been the nature of the play calling for 3 weeks in a row now. They would have been better off going for it instead of kicking a field goal. ...View More

Behind an adequate line, Rypien and Williams were Superbowl MVPs. Campbell won't ever get there without a line. Nor is he a dink and dunk QB, he's a down the field guy who can't throw short effectively with any frequency. We need a GM with the authority to act and hire. If we won't get that, then we need a new owner. www.savetheskins.com

Campbell certainly isnt a Farve, Manning, or Brady thats a given, but the likes of Farve, Manning and Brady dont grow on trees. When there is a viable, better replacement for Campbell we can then make the change, but the quality and availability of such is a bit thin on the ground to say the least. If we do see an uncapped season next season then maybe the decision will be taken out of the Redskins hands, Jason Campbell will be a n unrestricted Free agent and may decide to move on anyways. ...View More

I think the fact that there are those willing to stay with a below average QB, illustrates how below average a franchise we have become..Pretend your not a skins fan for a moment and ask yourself which QBs in this league you would start Jason Campbell over -other than some rookies and guys starting due to injury, you've got a pretty short list.
12/07/2009 12:34 PM
Spearhea..
Here is my take on Campbell. He is a decent QB, but not a money QB. When game is on the line and you need a drive to win or kill the clock he doesn't have that "it" factor to where he wills the team to victory. A Farve, Manning, or Brady will raise the play around them in the clutch. I just don't see that from Jason. He is a great guy, but think he is too medium. If you read or listen about the really good or great QB's you see the get in the huddle and take charge. They tell the team we're going to score. Sometimes the QB has to be a cheerleader and fire up the guys around him. Nice guy, but lacks something. ...View More

Vielen Dank Simone!!!!! Keep Campbell those receivers and TE's could possibly be the best in the league next year. Our problem is that we keep wanting to switch pilots during TAKE OFFS! Spend the Damn money on the line already. That should be Snyder's main concern, and if he doesn't have the Stones to fire Cerrato than that's his stupidy. Kareem Moore made a good play but failed to protect the ball. You might never see that again, but it happens to us. Player running down the field gets hit by the ball. You might never see it anywhere else but it happens to us. When it comes to kicking Field Goals, we're the Florida State. Gosh! People wanted Mark Moseley head when he started missing them. Seller fumbles, and he knows he has to protect the ball. They showed his face later, and I felt bad for him. Aikman put his two cents in about Campbell when he should have been blasting Romo,or saying something about the 2 picks Brady gave to the Dolphins yesterday. Child Please!!!!! ...View More

Im sure we all, or most of us anyways, always knew what Campbell could do, with a good O line, also in a system that would let him throw it deep. I think people are still trying to make some of the same worn out arguments. For Jason Campbell, time has run out on the IFs and BUTs. Yes, he could have if only.. Yes he could have had the skins done this... Management has already made up their mind. And now with a coaching change coming, its anybodys guess who will be lining up under center next year. Dont get me wrong. I always supported him. I like Campbell. There is just a reality to todays league and certainly to the franchise today. Its run by bozos. And to the comment about Vinny being out the door first. I WISH!! I hope your right. I really do.. BUT, I doubt it. Vinny is Danny's man. Danny Snyder has staked everything on Vinny. And since some of the flunkies he drafted at reciever has started to produce. Vinny will make a case that he just needs more time. I blame Danny and Vinny for matching a west coast offense to Campbell. There are a terrrible match. Campbell is better off in an offense that lets him take command and stretch the field. Then again, the new head coach might say that he likes Jason. In that case I would be VERY pleased. Our problems lay in the inconsistent planning and replanning. Danny's micromanaging. I would expect to see several notable name players not to be brought back. One more thing.. Why the hell is Randel El STILL returning punts?? ...View More

Cavalier man that is your opinion your entitled to it, just as I am entitled to mine. I would not argue any the points you mention but would (yet again) add that he has still to make the biggest step and that is lead us on a game winning score which as yet he has failed to do. You say changing him would kill all the improvement, that may be true but how many chances do we give him to "lead us on that game winning score", Ultimeatly that too could kill our team. I also only used Brady Quinn as an example of someone who has led their team on game winning drives, i did not say he was a better option. ...View More

Please think of others, we KNOW whats wrong and whats needed to be done. We arent a perfect team but name one that is? Theres little that can be done at the moment we have our rosta, We are stuck with the players weve got, maybe you know a Franchise QB from off the streets that we can pick up for peanuts?? I am not laying the full blame on Campbell, as i have said often I like him and like you Simone i have seen progress each week, but the one area I have not seen any improvement on is leading his team on a game winning score. I just find it very ironic that he is given a free pass (most of the time) when other people within the organisation are blamed for everything (including things they have no control over). I think to be fair we should let EVERYONE take their fair share of blame for this defeat. I am well aware that apart from the final drive Campbell played lights out (as did most of the O) but we came up short (again). As for replacements as I said in my very first post on here I would give Campbell a one year deal with lots of incentives to prove he can make that final step, if not then look around I am not going to prepare a list but even the likes of Brady Quinn (rumored to be on his way out of Cleveland) have led their team to final drive wins. Their are plenty of QB's looking for work. ...View More

I am a JC supporter and always will be. Is Jason Campbell a Tom Brady or a Peyton Manning? NO. I have seen progress every single year and every single game. This is his 2nd full year playing in the same offense..I don't know about you his game yesterday was awesome..He didn't loose the interception to Kareem Moore, not did he fumble the ball like Sellers did even tho Sellers didn't fumble..and Kareem Moore interception was a incomplete pass..He also didn't miss the FG..Suisham did. I see hope here with JC seeing the young ones stepping up. I am too one of the ppl that is waiting for the solution of a different QB? Colt? give me a break nope. Free Agency? Nope..crying Tebow..no..Nothing out there. I say keep JC and build the o-line..And there you have it ...View More

So another game passes and Campbell stays on his feet (zero sacks recorded) and we fail to win AGAIN. Each and every time we have to score to win a game we fail. Now it is not all down to one player but EVERY player is responsible. Campbell has yet to win a close one. You want names to replace him, right now I would try almost anyone (except Grossman). Campbell will no doubt get a pass from many on here, just like Cutler gets a pass from Chicago fans, but the fact remains he fails to win the close ones, and untill he does he will have a question mark over his name. ...View More

I don't think he is the answer we need in long run but maybe we can keep him one more year if nothing else comes up. Def don't draft a QB as I don't like any of the college QBs really. But I heard this morning we are keeping Vinny and dumping Zorn for Shannahan. If so, I'm 100% canceling tickets.

4 4 Minutes of Death!..That's what I think when the Skins have a lead, and three times we lose to teams we should have beaten. Campbell throws a pick, and everybody gets upset. How many got mad when Sellers FUMBLED the ball? Brees didn't have to much to get the Saints within field goal range. If Campbell had a hand in directing 30 points, then the defense should be held accountable for giving up 33. Still waiting for those names"QB's". ...View More

Look, everyone please understand that the quarterback decision, is like the headcoach and other key positions. The front office has already made up their minds and are not gonna change them. Really. They aint gonna do it. Zorn.. gone. Campbell... gone. Buges... gone. Portis, randel El. and others.. likely gone. Too much money. And the Danny and Vinny show, wants to go another direction. It doesnt matter what we think. I agree, the wrong people are being blamed by Danny and Vinny for this season. I like Jason and Coach Zorn, but that doesnt matter. It is very interesting that with some of our "star" players sidelined, our team is getting better production. HMMM.. could it be that Gibbs philosphy was right, and Danny has ignored it. Gibbs always believed he could win more with a team of hungry players who want to prove themselves, then he could with star players. Anyways, the skins are doing better, and it should be credited to the guys who are gutting out this lost season, But those who want to cling to hopes that Campbell and others will get another chance. Cmon, lets understand what kind of a jackass is running this team. Danny and Vinny want starpower. ...View More

Speaking of names... I really hope big names are not brought in. This does not usually pan out for us. I agree that JC has trouble with the long ball... I have to wonder if no confidence in the line makes him impatient with developing long routes. I guess overall his decision making abilities are suspect. I will say the last few games show an improvement in many areas. I think it isn't enough for the FO to invest another year. Its unfortunate.... I would love to see him succeed, too! NOW imagine what our record would be right now if we actually had a qb that could pick up 1/4 of the slack that our offense needs!!! we would still be in the playoff hunt! even when he has time in the pocket, and checks down to the 4th option, the comentators are showing replays of open wrs down the field! chances gone down the drain! in the last game, if campbell throws the ball to moss its an easy first down, if he runs the ball its an easy first down! INSTEAD ,CAMPBELL HAS NO CLUE, NO INSTINCT and hesitates 3 times and ends up rushing a poor throw on the run then gets slammed and the game is OVER! who didnt see that coming?????I WILL SAY THIS! i hate the west coast offense! we have to be ranked dead last in pass attempts over 20 yards!!! im with lady brave when it comes to HOW MANY OF US REALLY BELIEVE WE HAVE A CHANCE AT THE END OF A GAME TRAILING WITH CAMPBELL LEADING THE ATTACK????? even our wrs are stepping up and campbells statistics have not improved! we hold a team to 7 points and still lose????REALLY???? ...View More

I've seen a lot of comments across various message boards that no QB in the NFL could be productive behind a bad line. I offered evidence to the contrary. I think the bulk of JC's problems are mental. A few weeks ago, one of his former coordinators from Auburn said the biggest issue he had with JC was getting him mentally prepared and building up his confidence enough to where JC felt like he could perform. That's a very telling statement. Looks to me like JC still struggles with that aspect of being a quarterback and I don't think it's likely to change anytime soon. I don't like JC for a number of reasons and I won't be sad to see him go. His own teammates have questioned whether he has the "it" factor. I don't think he does. I didn't like it during the Cutler and Sanchez talks, that he felt he shouldn't have to compete for his job. I don't like it that he never takes responsibility for his own shortcomings. You can watch his interviews and read his statements and come away with the idea that he doesn't think he's at fault at all. That bothers me a lot and I don't think I've ever been more frustrated by a player than I have by Campbell. ...View More

Im not convinced JC is as bad as people think... when a Defense only has to get pressure on JC sending only four men then it leaves a lot of the D to drop & cover our recieving Corps. If they have to send more men to pressure JC then there will be more opportunities for JC to find a reciever. But we need an O Line that can protect our QB. A good O Line will make all the difference! If we keep JC on a short contract then we can build the O Line and get a Franchise QB as and when one is available.... (they dont grow on trees!) JC cant perform at his best in this current situation, his nerves must be shot! maybe keeping JC and concentrating on O Line makes sence, but we are talking Redskins Front Office for all the decisions and anything could happen! Just get rid of Vinny or we are doomed!!!!!!!!!!!! ...View More

We'll have to disagree about Pittsburgh. They did have a bad line last year. Fact is, Ben can score when it counts. That's something Campbell can't really do. Seriously, how many people here were confident that JC could move the ball down the field during the final 2 minutes last week and get us in scoring position? Not many, I'd be willing to bet. Forgive me if i wrong here, but has the makeshift line not managed to keep Campbell on his feet for the majority of the last three games against defences known for getting to the QB. Yet Campbell in the last two of those has not got us into fg range to win the game. Doing that makes you a great QB and not just the good QB with potential Campbell is.

Roethlisberger survived behind a Crappy line becaause they were young and big. Maybe better coaching, and them putting in the work in the film room with coaches. Would you want to drop back and pass if you had Heyer and Jones, and at times before he got hurt Samuel blocking for you? If that was Romo, Eli, Peyton, or even McNabb he would have gotten protection up front. No!..We have a Jackass running the show behind the curtain, and there's nothing in the Magic Bag that's going. It's time to gut the whole thing and start over. You keep Campbell because you're going to need a Good,Steady foundation up front. The money goes to the O-Line next year. Don't need a Bradford, McCoy, or even Tebow if he's going to be on his back for most of the game. Some of you say that JC holds onto the ball too long. Maybe so,but if we had Cutler, you might be looking at 15 or more picks because he's trying to force it to receivers. We keep JC because he has shown ability to learn a new offense. It's not about him showing Leadership this year, because you have to give him credit for taking such a beating, and getting right back up. If you think we can do better than name the QB. I think we had this conversation a few weeks ago. Charlie Weis and Clauseen AIN'T the answer. ...View More

It is obvious that Redskins fans are very much divided on Jason Campbell. My question is what is the solution? No quaterback will be successful behind this o-line. So, we either rebuild the line and stick with Campbell or spend our 1st round pick on a rookie qb. We do not have the luxury of doing both. The way I see it is that there are a handful of elite qbs in this league, and then there is everyone else. I personally do not see the next Brady, Manning, Rivers, etc. in this draft. I say keep Campbel, build your o-line, and develope some off this young offensive talent. Once the o-line is established then Campbell can be replaced if needed. Newsflash... no quaterback in this league would have this team with a winning record. Most quaterbacks would have been out with an injury if they were in Campbell's shoes. ...View More

If the offensive line is the key, then someone explain to me how Roethlisberger won a superbowl behind his crappy line. At this point, I think most people root for Campbell the person and forget how inept Campbell the player really is.

you have to give credit to cambpell the last couple of games we lost it in the last couple of minutes in each game but doing alot better and i agree cambpell is not the only problem the skins are having...and i agree if we were 8-3 there wouldint be a topic.

campbell is far from our only problem! i am aware of this! but this is about campbell! he didnt produce even the last 2 years ago when our line was healthy and portis was running well! MY OPINION IS THAT WE NEED A CHANGE!

OK......I thought about!!!!! CAMPBELL HAS TO GO! so he made a few nice throws, he also is not helping our makeshift o line look any better! he still after all this time cant make his mind up! he misses too many oppotunities! he cant decide if he wants to run or throw! yes the game is fast and u need to think quick! thats why the qb gets the big $ ..... how many times has campbell lead the team to a game winning field goal? let alone touchdown! he isnt the worst qb in the league! but ive seen enough to have a strong opinion !!!! AND IF WE WERE 8-3 that means this topic WOULDNT be a topic...BUT, we all knew it would be even before the season started! even the coaches who know campbell the best know that we have seen all campbell can do! it gets no better! i mean come on...even brady quinn makes a few nice throws a game! IM LOOKING FOR MORE OUT OF A QB THAN A FEW NICE THROWS A GAME! he is a great guy, a great teamate and i do want the best for him, unfortunately i dont think he is best fit for us!!!!! I WISH HE WAS! but thats just my 4 year observation and opinion! ...View More

i like Campbell and i hope noone hates me for saying this but i really dont think Campbell is our Future. i have noticed in the past few games that he struggles to bea able to process everything going on on the field Quickly enough and make the right decision to move the ball down field. there are times that if he went to a differnt WR it would have been an Easy TD Vs just as few yrds down field so as much as i like JC i dontthink he gives us our best chance to win ...View More

cambell is a good QB ..given he has a decent o-line... every QB. needs a o-line easy as that..

Campbell really isn't all of the problem. Dan needs to sell the team. Otherwise, it's more patchwork - Campbell cannot be successful with this situation. Get your own SELL THE TEAM, DAN bumper sticker here: www.savetheskins.com

I like Campbell, I always have but for me one thing is still lacking, his ability to win a close one. That is what good QB's do they win their team the close ones. Campbell fails almost everytime. That said I would not be against giving him a one year incentive laden contract so we could concentrate on the OLine
